Seesaw is a digital portfolio and learning management system that incorporates a variety of tools in one platform. Teachers can assign activities for students to complete, providing text and audio directions, video, links, and other resources. Students are able to complete activities by posting in a variety of ways and adding their own annotations, whether text, audio, or drawing.
Seesaw is a great tool to take the work your students are doing, whether physical work or digital, and add the reflection piece to help make learning visible. Not only is it evidence of learning that you can share with parents, but the reflection adds a deeper level of thinking and learning for the student as well.
Use the activity library! You don't have to build everything from scratch. If you are just getting started and want your students to practice, use the activity library for templates and ideas.
Start simple! You have a lot of work to do with a new class. Don't overload your students with new technology and new content. Start by just taking a picture and uploading it, or just submit a drawing activity. Building the little skills with repetition will set a foundation for success.
Use Sample Student! It's always a struggle explaining something to your kids when you are in the teacher dashboard vs. the student view. Sample Student allows you to test out activities that you create as well as demo them to your students.
PD in your PJs! Seesaw hosts many different webinars to learn about Seesaw. You are able to view them at any time or register for an upcoming event.
