As students enter third grade, they should have a good understanding of different technology tools and be familiar with similar icons. There will be some setback as they transition to a Chromebook, such as needing to learn a new device, how to access different websites, and logging in. However, once students develop these routines, they should be able to take their work a step further utilizing the different tools available to them through G Suite.
This is also a great time to introduce them to tools like spreadsheets to help understand math and data.
Word Processing: Students at this age can develop paragraphs in a single sitting. Combining word processing with basic research skills can set a foundation for future projects.
Slides and Visuals: While creating a full presentation might be a stretch, students can still develop visual aesthetics and design skills through single slide presentations.
Spreadsheets in Math: As students begin to develop multiplication fluency and number sense, spreadsheets can aid in being a visual representation of multiplication facts, adding another layer of coding these math facts.
