In fourth grade, students become more independent in their work, relying less on a group or teacher-led lessons. This can be a great time to build routines that encourage independent and group activities. Students should have some familiarity with basic icons and functions of applications but will need to grow in understanding how to organize and save files in a cloud-based environment. However, since they have some basic computing skills, they should be able to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways, both in analog and digital formats.
Presentations: With so much to learn in fourth grade, students should be able to do some research using a variety of media to share with others. Working with different methods of presenting work will add a piece of ownership to the learning.
Word Processing: As students develop their writing skills, they should put together a final draft in typed formatting. Not only will this develop advanced keyboarding skills, but they will also be able to use technology to improve their spelling and grammar.
